Reading’s under 18 and womens side both gained good victories over the past week, while the under 21 side earned a credible draw with
Everton.

The under 21 side fought out a 0-0 stalemate against Everton on Sunday at Goodison Park and were very unlucky not to win the game. Chris Cummins’ fielded a relatively inexperienced line-up, except for Brynjar Gunnarsson in the centre of midfield. They will now face Blackburn next week, who beat the Royals 4-2 in the reverse fixture last month.

However, Eamonn Dolan’s side earned a 1-0 victory over the Merseyside club at Hogwood on Monday, which means they go to the top of the academy table. Liam Kelly scored the only goal of the game and it was also the seventh straight win for the academy side.

The womens side enjoyed a superb result last week, as they thrashed Maidenhead Ladies 8-0 on their way to the County Cup semi-final. Fran Kirby was the star of the show, scoring a hat trick and setting up another in the game for Kelly Chambers’ girls.
