Hal Robson-Kanu has opted to sign a new contract with Reading, despite reported interest from Cardiff City.

The Reading Post has reported in the past few days that the Welsh international will put pen-to-paper sometime this week, on a three-year deal, which could well make him one of the top earners at the club. Robson-Kanu’s current deal was set to run out next summer and has previously hinted at a return to the Premier League.

Aston Villa and West Brom have reportedly shown an interest in the winger’s services, but more recently, Cardiff City. The newly-promoted side were believed to have submitted a £2 million bid for HRK, which the Royals may have been willing to accept, considering HRK did not have long to run on his contract.

It’s great to see HRK on the verge of signing a new deal, his form at the tail end of last season gained some admirers. Does HRK deserve to be one of our top earners though? He certainly has the most potential in our squad, let’s just hope he justifies his wage.
