Sheffield United defender Marcus Williams has stated his joy at his one-month loan move to the League One outfit, following his move from Reading.

The 25-year old has played both of the Blades league games since joining, enjoying a mixed start at Bramall Lane.

The left back lost his first game 3-0 at the hands of Huddersfield but they responded on Saturday but winning 3-0 against Michail Antonio’s Colchester United.

He told the SUFC official site: ‘For me it is nice to be back home and living locally. It has been difficult moving away and I think I played my best football at Scunthorpe when I had the support of my family and friends.’

Williams has admitted he spoke to Reading boss Brian McDermott that he wasn’t given a fair chance at the Madejski Stadium, with the signing of Joseph Mills near enough ending his Reading career.

‘If a player is happy off the pitch he often performs better on it and that is to be expected really. At the moment I am just going to take each game as it comes and do my best for the team, whilst trying to enjoy my football again.’
