The Championship season continued with the latest round of matches played over the weekend.
Newcastle keep top with Brighton retaining second with the pair opening a gap. Wigan, Blackburn and Rotherham make up the bottom three still.

The latest weekend of action got underway with Brentford’s two-nil win at QPR giving them a first win at Loftus Road in over 50-years in this derby.
In midweek Newcastle thrashed Preston six-nil in the League Cup a repeat fixtures, but at Deepdale, saw Rafa Benitez’s side maintain the three-point lead at the top after a two-one win with Brighton’s five-nil thrashing of promotion rivals Norwich at Amex Stadium seeing Albion open a four-point lead over fourth place Canaries.
Huddersfield were also thrashed five-nil, this defeat at Fulham saw Town say third but three-points off Brighton with a much inferior goal-difference, hardly helped by this thrashing at Craven Cottage!
Neil Warnock was beaten for the first time as Cardiff boss when relegation rivals Wigan went away from the Cardiff City Stadium with a one-nil win, but it wasn’t enough to take the Latics out of the bottom three.
Rotherham’s spell under Kenny Jackett started with a two-all draw at Ipswich, the Millers stay bottom though with Blackburn remaining in the bottom three two after Rovers were pegged back by Wolves, this one-one draw at Ewood Park keeps Wolves (of course post Walter Zenga) to close to the bottom three for comfort themselves.
A two-nil win for Reading at the Madejski against Nottingham Forest took the Royals back into a play-off position but Forest are also embroiled in a relegation battle at this stage, which is far from expected – at least wanted!
Steve Bruce returned to Birmingham, a club he had served as a player and boss, with Aston Villa for the derby at St Andrew’s. They couldn’t be separated in a one-all draw.
