Transfer rumour round-up

It’s gone a bit quiet on the transfer front in recent weeks, but that hasn’t stopped the rumours still being in full flow.

The most bizarre rumour to have surfaced in the last couple of days is a return for former winger Ola John, who was on loan in the 15/16 season. The Daily Mirror is reporting that Stam is keen to bring the Dutchman back to the club on a loan deal with a view a permanent move.

While I wouldn’t be against him coming back, we already have plenty of wingers in and around the squad, so would be silly to focus on this area when we are in need of a striker. The 25-year old has plenty of flair, but there were also question marks over his match fitness.

On the topic of the ongoing striker search, ClubCall are reporting that Brighton have rejected a second bid from Reading for the services of Tomer Hemed. We reportedly bid for the Israeli forward earlier in the month, but this was knocked back due to Albion’s striker shortage.

However, now Brighton have upped their interest in Cardiff’s forward Kenneth Zohore, it seems the Royals are now more confident of getting their man. It would be a very good move to bring him to Berkshire, but I wouldn’t be overly confident about this just yet – watch this space.

The latest rumour is that of Preston midfielder Ben Pearson, who was impressive in our defeat at Deepdale on Saturday. HITC Sport are reporting that we are one of several sides interested in the 22-year old, who has made a very good impact since joining Preston last season.

This would make sense considering Stam is still on the look out for a midfielder this window, as it seems we are still trying to fill the void left by Danny Williams. I highly doubt Preston will want to sell on the cheap, so I think this will be a tough nut to crack with our budget.
