Vital Reading season preview

Club: Derby County

Founded: 1884

Nickname: The Rams

Ground: Pride Park (Capacity: 33,597)

When we face off: Sat 21st September (A), Sat 15th March (H)

Last season finish: 10th – Championship

Manager: Nigel Clough – The son of legendary manager, Brian Clough, joined Derby in 2009 and is now approaching his fifth full season in charge of the Rams. He is yet to majorly challenge for the play-off places as Derby boss, but has kept them away from the dreaded relegation trap door.

Key player: Will Hughes – The 18-year old burst onto the first team scene for the Rams last year and has not looked back. Hughes has been capped at under 21 level for England and has a massive future in the game.

Season Preview – Nigel Clough’s side had a fine end to the 2012/13 campaign, having won five of their last nine games, so will want to continue in a similar vein for the upcoming season. Derby have already brought in Craig Forsyth and could be on the verge of bringing in Watford’s John Eustace, who has great experience at this level. Clough has quite a youthful squad on the whole, so some experienced additions could make the difference in Derby’s fortunes this season.
