Vital Reading season preview….

Club: A.F.C. Bournemouth

Founded: 1890

Nickname: The Cherries

Ground: Dean Court (Capacity: 10,783)

When we face off: Sat 7th December (H), Tues 8th April (A)

Last season finish: 2nd – League One (Promoted)

Manager: Eddie Howe – A win percentage of over 60% in his second spell in charge of his boyhood club, speaks volumes of the job that Howe has done, since returning to Dean Court in October last season. It didn’t really go to plan with Burnley, but Howe seems much more comfortable back home on the south-coast.

Key player: Elliot Ward – Howe has made two experienced free transfers in former Royals player Ian Harte and central defender Elliot Ward. The 28-year old has great experience at Championship level, which will be crucial to Bournemouth, with the squad lacking experience in the top two divisions.

Season Preview: – Eddie Howe stated at the end of last season that he wouldn’t make any major changes to his squad, despite their recent promotion. I still feel that Bournemouth need a few more experienced heads and loan players from top clubs and if they acquire well, the Cherries could be a surprise package this season.
