Finally, domestic football is back and there is plenty to be optimistic about for a solid transfer window and following on from our first away win of the season. Tomorrow we welcome Bristol City to the Madejski Stadium, so we look at team news for both sides.

Our injury situation is looking slightly better than what it was last month. Winger Roy Beerens should return from the squad after returning to Holland for personal reasons. Callum Harriott and Jordan Obita are both back in full training, with Obita having an outside chance making the squad.

Midfielder John Swift has joined back in training late this week, but is still not expected to feature as a precaution. Striker Joseph Mendes has missed the last couple of games with injury, so may return, while new record signing Sone Aluko is expected to start after shaking off a groin knock.

Our visitors are looking very healthy on the injury front, with only Bosnian striker Milan Djuric and Gary O’Neil the only players missing. New signing Cauley Woodrow will be pushing for a start, but Diedhiou is expected to be the front man for Lee Johnson’s side.

Predicted Reading XI – 4-3-3: Mannone; Gunter, Moore, McShane, Blackett; Van den Berg, Kelly, Bacuna; Aluko, Bodvarsson, Barrow.

Predicted Bristol City XI – 4-5-1: Fielding; Pisano, Wright, Baker, Bryan; Smith, Pack, Brownhill, Reid, Paterson; Diedhiou.
