Reading goalkeeper Stuart Taylor has spoken of his mixed feelings after the Royals 3-1 defeat to Everton last Saturday.

Due to an injury suffered on Friday to first choice goalkeeper Adam Federici, the 32-year old was called upon to play his first Premier League game in over four years. Despite Taylor being pleased at earning his first appearance for his new side, the goalkeeper was disappointed with the scoreline against the Toffee’s on Saturday.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, the former Manchester City keeper said: ‘It’s always disappointing when you’ve coming off having lost 3-1 but personally I’m happy to have played my first game in five or six years and done okay. I’ve been in and around teams but not really had the chance to play.’

‘Feds has been unlucky and picked up an injury but it’s obviously given me a chance to get a game. You’ve just got to play it by ear. I’ll prepare like I’m going to play then if not then that’s the manager’s decision. Especially after waiting a long time, it would be nice to get a couple more games.’

I don’t think Taylor can be too disappointed with his individual performance, as he couldn’t do a lot with any of the three goals, making some good saves in the game to keep the score down. Many panicked before the Everton game, but if Taylor needs to be called upon this weekend against his former side, I’m sure it won’t be a problem.
