A strong-looking Reading under 21 side defeated Norwich at the Madejski Stadium 3-0 last night.

The biggest inclusion was goalkeeper Adam Federici, who has returned from a knee problem keeping him out of the previous six Premier League games. The Royals defence contained some notable figures, with player of the season Alex Pearce lining up alongside Sean Morrison and the highly-experienced Ian Harte.

Chris Cummins’ side opened the scoring on 27 minutes, as Jordan Obita completed some neat work down the left to force the keeper into a save, before tapping home the rebound at the near post. Striker Dominic Samuel doubled the lead into the second period, as Obita supplied the low cross for the young forward to confidently slot home from 10 yards.

The scoring was completed on 75 minutes, as Norwich failed to clear a corner and Samuel once again profited by burying his right-footed shot into the corner, despite being surrounded by defenders. It was a very good performance from the side, who were watched by a crowd nearly over 600 at the Madejski Stadium.
