The future of Pavel Pogrebnyak is going to be thrown into question if Reading go down, but the forward says it will be resolved at the end of the season.
The 29-year old signed for the Royals in the summer, but has struggled to make a lasting impact at the Madejski Stadium, scoring just 8 goals in 24 games. Despite being on a four-year contract, it is expected that a clause in the contract would allow the Russian international to leave, with a move back to native Russia the likely destination.
Speaking to Russian news website izvestia.ru, Pogrebnyak said: ‘Everything will be decided by the end of the season. Believe me, I don’t have time to think about my contract. All of my thoughts are about the Reading games. I think we have very little chance of avoiding relegation but we’ll fight until the end.’
If Pog is on the reported £65,000-a-week, then good riddance if he wants to leave. However, if he is on around the £30,000 mark and if he wanted to stay, I certainly wouldn’t be against it. I doubt he will be here come the start of next season, but maybe a season in the Championship would do the Pog a world of good.
