Reading striker Jason Roberts is in talks with the Royals over a new deal at the club, according to Sky Sports.

The 34-year old signed for the Royals in January on an 18-month deal, but following some fine performances for Brian McDermott’s side, he is aiming to agree an extended deal at the club. It is reported that clubs abroad will be keen to pounce if the former Blackburn striker doesn’t agree a deal.

Roberts played an integral role in Reading’s rise to the Premier League, forming a notable partnership with Noel Hunt, scoring six goals in 17 games. However, the Grenadian international will be banned for the first two games of the Premier League season after being sent off against Crystal Palace in April.
