Jobi McAnuff could well of played his last game for Reading, that is if he is not offered a new deal this summer.

The former Watford winger’s current contract runs out this summer and the skipper is yet to be offered an extension. Jobi has spent five seasons at the Madejski Stadium, but could potentially leave this club this summer and admits he wants a resolution to the situation soon.

Speaking to the Reading Post about his unresolved contract situation, Jobi said: ‘Nothing`s been said. Most of it is done over the summer. In this day and age, especially if you`re out of contract, you`ve got to make plans or try to make them. You look at Chris Baird for example.’

The 32-year old added that: ‘You talk to him about what a struggle it was for him to get in somewhere. You don`t really want to be in that boat come July 1 with nothing sorted out. It`s about making sure you`re not leaving yourself short come the summer.’

I doubt the ownership situation is helping any contract issues, with Le Fondre’s deal also running out next year. The likes of Hammond and Adkins will probably wait a month for any ownership resolution, then look at not only extending Jobi’s deal, but possibly others.

Does Jobi warrant a new deal? I’m not sure. He potentially has one more season left in him, but would he even accept that? If Jobi was offered a longer deal elsewhere, it really wouldn’t surprise me if he went for that, as at his age, I’m sure he’d want more financial security.
