Reading winger Hal Rosbon-Kanu has credited his manager Brian McDermott for the work he has done over the past few years, claiming his motivation has been key to their recent success.

The 23-year old has been brought into light under the reign of Brian McDermott, since be took over back in December 2009. Robson-Kanu has impressed to such an extent that he is now a regular in Chris Coleman’s Wales side, playing a notable part in their current qualifying campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to the Reading Post, the Welsh international said: ‘The manager’s been fantastic over the last couple of years to the players and to the club. He’s been a real inspiration to everyone and brought a lot of players through. There’s quite a few academy players playing in the team now and it’s definitely attributed to him.’

‘He proved it last season, the season before and again this season. He motivates everyone, gets everyone together pushing in the right direction and that’s a massive part of our success. In any season it’s always important to get your first win and we had been waiting for it for a while so to get it in the fashion we did was a nice feeling.’

Not only is it great to see the owner publicly backing the gaffer, but the players too. It has been clear in all of our matches under Brian, that all the squad want to play for him, which can be seen in the complete opposite to Mark Hughes at QPR, who struggled to get the dressing room behind him.
