Reading Football Club have confirmed they will not contest the red card given to Pavel Pogrebnyak.

The Russian international was given his marching orders by referee Phil Dowd in the Royals’ 3-0 defeat to Wigan on Saturday and McDermott has revealed that they will not appeal the ban. This means Pogrebnyak will miss Reading’s next three games against Everton away, Aston Villa at home and Manchester United away.

At the time, it did seem quite harsh on Pavel, but when you look back at the challenge, it wasn’t nice. It was obviously a lash out in frustration at what was a dire afternoon. Some Royals fans don’t seem that bothered that the Pog will be out for three games, but this will disrupt our 4-5-1 system drastically.
