The jubilation of reaching an FA Cup semi-final for the first time in 88 years could backfire slightly on Reading.

The pitch invasion that followed the final whistle of the Bradford game could potentially be punished by the Football Association, who are investigating the matter. There were reports of flares being thrown into the Bradford away end, which if true, is disgraceful!

This was not the only trouble that marred our success, as a Bradford fan was accused of racially abusing Garath McCleary in the first half. That request is being dealt with by the police and both clubs, so hopefully the accused will be brought to justice and banned for life.

It’s a real shame that these events spoiled what is a fantastic achievement for the football club. Invading the pitch was slightly an over-reaction, but Bradford boss Phil Parkinson revealed there was no aggression towards any of his players when fans come onto the pitch.

The media is certainly blowing it out of proportion and possibly making it a bigger matter that it is meant to be. I understand that you can’t condone flair throwing and racism, but the pitch invasion seemed very harmless, mainly as the average age of everyone was about 15!
