Royals Release Oster

John Oster is the biggest casualty as the summer clear out at Reading begins.

The midfielder has never really won over the fans and has been somewhat of a scapegoat this season, despite often performing better than some of the more favoured players.

Oster who has made 43 starts for the Royals in his three seasons at the club, is released along with Ulises De La Cruz, John Halls, Graham Stack, Adam Bygrave and Aaron Brown.

None of the releases come as much of a surprise, with Bygrave and Brown yet to make an appearance for the Royals first team.

Meanwhile, Glen Little, Michael Duberry, Ben Hamer and Scott Davies have all been offered new deals.

Little, who was a key part in the Royals Championship winning campaign, has been plagued by injury in the last year, and the new contract offer will be pleasing to both him and the fans.

Michael Duberry may have been axed had the Royals stayed up, but his experience at Championship level will be a huge bonus for the club as they look to bounce straight back to the Premier League.

Hamer and Davies, both 20, have yet to feature in the Reading first team, but are both seen as hot prospects for the future.

Regarding the released players, Reading Director of Football, Nick Hammond, had this to say, ‘I would like to place on record my thanks to all of the players who will be moving on.

‘They have shown great professionalism, and we wish them all the very best for the future.’
