Royals on verge of signing new striker

We have had plenty of outgoing in the past couple of weeks, but it seems we are finally set to make a second signing of the summer, and unsurprisingly it comes up front.

The player in question is Wolves frontman Jon Dadi Bodvarsson (thank goodness for copy and paste), after the Express and Star revealed that the Royals agreed a few with their Championship rivals. It is expected to be confirmed early next week, providing personal terms are agreed.

Ipswich were the front runners for the Icelandic international, but we reportedly came forward with a permanent offer, as Ipswich only wanted a loan deal. Wolves wanted to recoup as much of their £1 million they paid for the forward, but I expect us to pay just over half of that.

So what do we know about the striker? Not an awful lot, apart from the fact despite he wasn’t very prolific with Wolves (3 goals in 42 appearances), he seems to be popular with the Wolves faithful. It seems the 25-year old has plenty of energy to offer and a big frame of 6’3.

With Dominic Samuel reportedly close to joining Blackburn and Yann to miss the start of the season with injury, this really could not have come at a better time. I still expect Stam to try and get another striker in soon, with the link of Nelson Oliveira still not going away.
