A round up of all the news concerned with Reading Football Club over the past couple of days…

——————————————

Reading have been drawn with League One outfit Crawley Town in the third round draw of the FA Cup. The tie will be played at the Broadfield Stadium on Saturday 5th January and will see a return of a memorable face in former boss Steve Coppell, who is currently director of football with the Red Devils.

It’s fantastic news for the Royals’ Academy side, as they won their respective group with a few games to spare. They clinched the league after ninth win a row, as they beat Arsenal’s under 18s 5-3 in North London last week. They will now prepare for a FA youth cup game against Brentford.

However, it was slight dissapointment for the under 21 side, as they just missed out on the elite group, as they drew 2-2 with Arsenal. The youthful Royals side went behind twice, but a Tariqe Fosu equaliser and a stoppage time Craig Tanner goal won point for Chris Cummins’ side, but it wasn’t enough to earn a place in the elite league.

In ticket news, extra Southampton tickets have been allocated for the encounter at St Mary’s, after high interest in the initial allocation of 1753. An extra 700 tickets have now been made available, taking the total allocation to 2453 and is now also on general sale. Go to Reading FC Official website to buy tickets.
