Danny Williams hopes good performances in a Reading shirt, will help his chances of playing in Brazil next year.

The 24-year old was born in Germany, but qualifies and is capped for the United States. He has already earned 12 caps over the past two years under Jurgen Klinsmann and the German is a big fan of the midfielder, especially after Williams was the first player he gave a first cap to.

Quoted by the Reading Chronicle, Williams said: ‘My aim is to get back in the national team as quickly as possible and go to the World Cup next year, that is my dream. I have to concentrate hard but if I play well for Reading it will help my chances with the national team.

‘I was injured towards the end of last season so I should have played more times for my country by now because I’ve missed a few World Cup qualifiers. Injuries have come at the worst time for me but I’m fit again now and I’m keen to get going.’

Williams has been paired with Danny Guthrie in pre-season, so could that be the central midfield partnership this season? It is probably the best on paper, but I trust Adkins to make the right decision. Akpan and Karacan gives stiff competition to the both of them.
