Reports have stated that Reading have slapped a £10m price tag on star striker Shane Long, following interest from a handful of Premier League teams.

After Reading’s play-off final defeat to Swansea, Chairman Sir John Madejski joked their star man is worth around £20m, but the fee seems ever likely being near that figure!

The Republic of Ireland international scored 25 goals for the Royals last season, helping them to make it to the new Wembley for the first time in their history, but the £10m price tag being put on Long has scared away many potential suitors.

Their has been interest from Newcastle, Everton and most recently Sunderland for the former Cork City man.

Celtic were also interested in the Irishman, only to be put off by the Royals high valuation of their star striker.

We reported to you yesterday that if Reading were to sell Long, Burnley’s Martin Paterson could be a possible target.

In other news, former Royal Alan Bennett has joined Cheltenham Town, following his release from Wycombe Wanderers.
