Royals captain considering future

Jobi McAnuff still has a year left on his current contract at Reading, but admitted he will look at his future at the end of the season.

The 31-year old’s current contract runs until the summer of 2014 season, but no discussions to extend his deal have taken place between the two parties. It is also unsure whether McAnuff will be captain next season under Adkins, who could name a different skipper next term.

Speaking to the Daily Mail and when asked about his future at the Madejski Stadium, Jobi said: ‘We’ll have a look at it, obviously, once that time comes. We’ve got a few games here to make the most of it – we have to try to dig in and get results.’

‘We’ve all got our own pride and we don’t want to finish bottom, that’s for sure. So we’ll be trying to pick up as many points as we can between now and the end of the season and address things then. It’s going to be very, very tough but we’re just trying to win games.’

I’d still like to see Jobi here for another season, because of his experience in the Championship. However, I don’t think he should be named captain next season, but would still have a massive part to play in a promotion push.
