Nigel Adkins is usually a manager who tries to defend his players in post-match interviews – not on Saturday though!

The Royals boss witnessed his side lose by a solitary goal to Charlton, who defended superbly to pick up three points at the Madejski Stadium. While we had 60% of the possession and twenty shots, we had just two shots on target all game, which is not good enough.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Adkins admitted: ‘You’ve got to move the ball and be patient. Did we move it quickly enough? We’ve Was the quality there? And also was there anyone there to get on the end of it? And sometimes you have to credit their defenders.’

‘It’s disappointing we haven’t backed up the win in midweek. To have all those crosses and corners, you’d like to think you’d put one in, especially with the attacking line-up we had. I thought we started in a way we could go on to win, but they got one cross in and scored from it.’
