Reading manager Brian McDermott has said there could be more signings to come in the January transfer window.

The Royals have already completed the signing’s of Daniel Carrico, Hope Akpan and Stephen Kelly in the January window, but with over two weeks still left to go, McDermott is not ruling anything out. The Royals are a side that rarely secure late deals in the window, but did sign Matthew Connolly on deadline day last January.

Speaking to BBC Radio Berkshire, the former Slough Town boss said: ‘I’ve been here 12 years and the biggest names we’ve ever signed are Martin Keown and Les Ferdinand. I try to sign players who will fit in and are within our budget. I know the big names out there, people mentioned Danny Welbeck, but he is not coming to Reading.’

‘There’s two and a half weeks to go and if something comes our way then fine. We’ve now signed Stephen Kelly, a great lad and he fits right into what we`re about, he’ll be an asset and I think it’s a great signing. People talk about our fans wanting big big names, but for me Stephen’s a big name because he will fit into what we’re trying to do.’

Reports have been saying that Brian is still in the market for an attacking midfield player, with some fingers pointing to a possible deal for Andrei Arshavin. As much as this transfer would be welcomed by Reading fans, it doesn’t seem very likely at the moment, with his home country of Russia a probable destination for the Arsenal player.
