Reading’s miserable end to the season continued, as Rotherham were 2-1 winners at the New York Stadium, confirming their survival, and Wigan & Millwall’s relegation

There were six changes in total from Clarke, as he is evaluating his squad ahead of next season. Three players coming into the side are out of contract in the summer – those are skipper Jem Karacan, Stephen Kelly and Mikkel Andersen in goal. Jake Cooper also came in for a start.

The first half was a cagey affair, which Rotherham probably shaded based on danger around the opposition penalty area. It all changed in the second half, as quick-fire goals from Matt Derbyshire and Lee Frecklington put the Millers firmly on the way to Championship safety.

Oliver Norwood scored a very rare goal for Reading, with a decent strike from range, although Millers keeper Martinez will be disappointed with his efforts. It was merely a consolation though, as Reading’s winless run in the league extended to an incredible nine games.
