The transfer activity at the Madejski Stadium has been very disappointing to say the least, but Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he is hopeful of bringing at least one new signing in, in the next couple of days.

With a centre back high on the shopping list and only just over a week to go until the start of the season, Royals fans have been getting frustrated at the lack of arrivals at the club but Rodgers has been quick to reassure us that new faces are on the way.

He told the official site, ‘Hopefully we may have a signing in or two by Saturday because it would be important. The Club know who we want, Nick Hammond has been working hard on deals while we’ve been in Sweden. If not for Saturday then certainly for early next week.’

There have been a number of players linked with the club and the latest are QPR defender Fitz Hall and Portsmouth striker David Nugent, who we could swap for Stephen Hunt.

With the current squad lacking in experience the idea of a couple of experienced pro’s sound a lot more exciting than a couple of young premiership loanee’s.
