New Reading striker Jason Roberts has said he is estatic that he has joined the Berkshire club, as they approach there ‘new era’ under new potential owners TSI, which will see the Royals on a new financial level.

The 34-year old joined from Blackburn Rovers yesterday for a nominal fee, on a 18 month contract. After being frozen out of the team at Ewood Park, he is keen to start his new challenge in the Championship as he approaches his final years as a player.

Roberts told the media: ‘This is a club that has been progressing well over the years and I`ve been watching how well they`ve been doing with interest. It seems there is a new era coming in and I`m looking forward to being part of that.’

‘From my point of view this is a great new challenge. I`ve got experience of promotions as well as Premier League football and I would like to think I hit the back of the net on a few occasions too.’


The former Bristol Rovers forward is set to go straight into the squad for tomorrow afternoon’s game against Bristol City, where with his Rovers conneections, should create a contrast of emotions for the Grenada international.
