Reading striker Jason Roberts had admitted that Reading will need to add to the squad if they want to progress in the Premier League, but maintain the team chemistry.

The 34-year old has spent the majority of his playing career in the Premier League and cannot wait to have another attempt at it in the colours of blue and white. However, Roberts will be banned for the first two games due to suspension following through from the game against Crystal Palace on 21st April.

When being interviewed by Abu Dhabi TV, Roberts said: ‘Yes money has to be spent, yes players have to come in, but at the same time you have to keep the nucleus of the squad, the nucleus of the dressing room – because this has been a very special dressing room. It is a dressing room with a great mentality.’

‘So long as we can keep that and add the right players with the right mentality, I think we’ll be in a good position to stay in the league next season. It’ll be great to see the players who haven’t played in the Premier League before being given the opportunity to play at this level. I’ve been there before, I know what the Premier League is all about.’
