Reading striker Jason Roberts has said that talks over a new contract should not be a problem.

The 34-year old is approaching the final year of his 18-month contract, which was signed back in January, after Roberts signed from Blackburn. However, after some fine performances to help the Royals to promotion last campaign, it is clear that the former Wigan forward still has the capability of playing on through next season.

Speaking to Jonny Fordham the Reading Post, Roberts said: ‘It will get sorted in time and it won`t be a problem. Since I came to this club I think I have shown what I am about and will continue to do that. All I can do now is focus on the football and focus on the opportunity we have given ourselves by performing so well last year.”

The Grenada international is currently nursing a calf problem, which has kept him out of Reading’s three previous friendlies. Despite this, Roberts is expected to be fit come the start of the Premier League season. Do Reading fans feel he deserves a new deal? Or by the time next season comes, will Roberts have passed his sell by date?
