On Sky

Reading host Ipswich on Friday night in search of their first home win of the season. Ipswich are currently 3rd in the table whilst Reading lie in 13th spot.

Predicted Line-ups

Reading- Bond; Gunter Hector Ferdinand Obita; Mccleary Williams Norwood John; Vydra Blackman.

Ipswich- Gerken; Chambers Smith Berra Knusden; Fraser Skuse Douglas Tabb; Sears McGoldrick.

Reading Team News:

Reading are likely to be without captain Paul McShane as he was injured on International duty. Hector, Williams and Hurtado only arrived back from their trips today, but are likely to be available. New signings Piazon, Vydra and John will all be looking to make their debut’s on Sky. In other team news, Dom Samuel is our only absentee, so Clarke will have a very strong squad to pick from.

Player to watch: Matej Vydra

New signing, Vydra, is a huge purchase for The Royals and he’ll be looking to get off the mark early. Vydra has outrageous pace that we have been missing since the departure of Shane Long a few years ago. He will be partnering either Blackman or Sa and they’ll be looking to build a good relationship.

Ipswich Team News:

Key Ipswich defender, Christophe Berra is now fully fit and is expected to start on Friday night. However, The Tractor boys will be without midfielders Teddy Bishop and Kevin Bru as they continue their recovery from injury. Daryl Murphy will be looking for a start, however, it is likely he’ll start on the bench after injury.

Player to watch: Ryan Fraser

Ryan Fraser was signed from Bournemouth as part of the Tyrone Mings deal and it looks a top purchase from Ipswich. Fraser is a really tricky, pacey and hardworking winger that will look to give either Gunter or Obita problems. He is a key man for Ipswich if they’re to get anything out of this affair.

Did You Know?

Reading won both the games between these two sides 1-0 last season. Goals from Jake Taylor and Jamie Mackie in the home and away games respectively, were the difference between the two teams.

Match Prediction:

2-1 to Reading. A sudden spark of optimism has hit the Madejski Stadium after a fantastic summer for the Royals and manager Steve Clarke. This is our first game with all of the new signings and everyone involved with Reading is raring to go.
