Brian McDermott’s return has resulted in this one being very highly anticipated.

McDermott was announced as the new Reading manager on Thursday morning for his second spell in charge of Reading.

His first game is today against in-form Blackburn.

Paul Lamberts side currently sit in twelfth, but are unbeaten since the 24th October; which is when Reading downfall started at Fulham.

Can Brian give an injury hit Reading a lift?

Predicted Line-ups

Reading; Bond; Gunter McShane Cooper Hector; Mccleary Norwood Williams Robson-Kanu; Blackman Vydra.

Blackburn; Steele; Henley Hanley Duffy Olsson; Conway Guthrie Akpan Marshall; Rhodes Koita

Reading Team News:

Reading could be without four of their defender through injury. Taylor (ribs), Obita (knee), Ferdinand (groin) and Gunter (head) are all doubts.

Brian is likely to play 4-4-2 so Robson-Kanu or Ola John could come in.

Quinn will also be looking to make his first appearance since September.

Player to watch: Matej Vydra

Vydra has been making some wonderful runs recently that we have been unable to find. Is McDermott the man to get the best out of Matej? I think so.

Blackburn Team News:

Guthrie and Akpan will be looking to start against their former teams.

Koita could continue up front with Rhodes.

No injury concerns.

Player to watch: Jordan Rhodes

Rhodes is a natural goal scorer. Jordan will always be in the right place at the right time and will look to hurt Reading inexperienced defence today.

Did You Know?

Blackburn have a great record against us. During the last 8 encounters, they have won 4, drawn 4.

Match Prediction:

With it being McDermotts first game back, I can see the players being right up for this one.

I have Reading to win 2-1 and break Blackburn’s impressive run.
