Reading striker Noel Hunt has said the Royals are not going down without a fight this season and will certainly not give up.

Brian McDermott’s side are currently bottom of the Premier League, six points from safety and have also lost six consecutive games. The Royals were even seven points better off this time five years ago in the 07/08 season and still went down then. However, the Republic of Ireland international has maintained the squad will continue to fight.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Hunt said: ‘We’re always working hard on the training ground. We all discuss and talk about it but there’s no finger pointing. We know what we’ve got to do, we know we’re right in the middle of it. But we’re willing to fight. We can’t give up, that’s for sure.’

‘I remember last season we got booed off against Doncaster at half time, but we ended up winning that game & then we won the league. We owe the fans, they’ve been brilliant. We need to rectify a few things – that’s for definite. Realistically, we’re scoring goals. We scored a couple against Arsenal and had chances to get more in the first half.’

Noel will openly admit he didn’t have his best game against Arsenal on Monday, but I think he is a much better striker when he plays with Roberts. However, you can never doubt Hunt’s work ethic and spirit, which certainly rubs off on his teammates.
