Royals boss McDermott revealed during the week that he wanted to bring in Premier League experience on loan in the upcoming January transfer window, preferably on loan, and we understand that the former England international is one of the players he is considering.
Upson, 33, had a loan stint with the Berkshire side back in 2002, where he impressed many in his three-month loan tenure. I’m sure McDermott would be familiar with Matthew during his time here and could bring that all-needed Premier League experience to our defence.
