Reading’s poor run of form at home continued on Tuesday night with an awful display against relegation-candidates Barnsley, losing 3-1 at the Madejski Stadium.

The Royals started slowly and ultimately went behind, as Chris Gunter’s short back pass put McCarthy in trouble and Dawson finished the move off. Reading did respond through a Pavel Pogrebnyak penalty, with the big Russian winning the spot kick himself.

Into the second half, a quick fire Barnsley double saw the visitors take a 3-1 lead, with Noble-Lazarus finishing superbly and Dale Jennings’ fine strike giving them a deserved lead. It was a miserable performance and showing, but we luckily remain in the play-offs.

Full match report to follow on Wednesday afternoon.
