Reading’s dismal league form continued, as Clayton Donaldson’s late winner for Birmingham left the Royals winless in seven Championship games.
Steve Clarke tinkered with the side slightly after the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday, making four changes. Cooper and Blackman came in for rare starts, while skipper Jem Karacan returned. Nathan Ake made his final loan appearance for the Royals, before returning to Chelsea.
Reading dominated the match in terms of possession and created enough opportunities to win to take a long-awaited three points, but were very wasteful. Donaldson ended up scoring the winner seven minutes from time, heading in after a short corner from the away side.
