Reading and Bolton fought out a frustrating stalemate at the Madejski Stadium, with the home side having the majority of the chances.

The last time these two sides met it was probably Nigel Adkins’ best day as Reading manager, as we trashed the Trotters 7-1 back in January. The Royals boss named an unchanged line-up from the side that won at Norwich last week, meaning we kept our previous 4-3-3 shape.

There really isn’t a lot to say about the first half, apart from the fact our only shot on target, we managed to block on the line! There were some boos at half time from the Madejski crowd, in the hope that the tempo and quality of football would improve in the second half.

It did improve, not by much though, it has to be said. We were looking most dangerous from set pieces, with Hector and Cooper have great opportunities. It finished goalless though and despite some Royals fans unimpressed, it was a good point against an improving team.
