Vital Reading Season Preview – Swansea

Club: Swansea City

Founded: 1912

Nickname: The Swans

Ground: Liberty Stadium (Capacity: 20,532)

When we face off: Sat 6th October (A), Wed 26th December (H)

Last season finish: 11th – Premier League

Manager: Michael Laudrup – When Brendan Rodgers left, the Swans had a small market to find a manager who played passing, fluid football. However, they got a great catch with the appointment of the Laudrup.

The Dane had a fantastic record in his homeland with Brøndby, where he won the Danish Superliga in 2006. More recently, in his spell with Getafe, he led his team to a Copa Del Ray final in 2008 and many took notice of their fine attacking displays.

Key player: Ashley Williams – The rock at the heart of Swansea’s defence has been crucial towards their superb defensive record last season. Powerful centre half who can read the game extremely well.

Season Preview: I’m still very undecided how its going to pan out under Laudrup, but if he gets the squad playing his style of football early, I can’t see them getting involved in any relegation trouble. Getting Scott Sinclair to sign an extended deal is also crucial for the Swans.
