Vital Reading Season Preview – Arsenal
Club: Arsenal
Founded: 1886
Nickname: The Gunners
Ground: Emirates Stadium (Capacity: 60,361)
When we face off: Sat 15th December (H), Sat 30th March (A)
Last season finish: 3rd – Premier League
Manager: Arsene Wenger – The wiley Frenchman is entering his seventeenth season in charge of Arsenal, but continues to reign strong by maintaining constant European finishes, despite a lack of silverware. His eye-catching philosophy of football in management has made him one of the most respected managers on the planet.
Key player: Alex Song – With Robin Van Persie not likely to be with the club any longer, the focus now rests on a player who had a similarly wonderful season last campaign.
The Cameroon international proved to be the most-improved Gunners star, putting in some superb defensive and attacking displays in the centre of midfield that has earned reported interest from Barcelona.
Season Prediction: There is no doubt that the teams at the top end at the Premier League are getting stronger season-by-season. Arsenal have fallen short to losing their key players in recent years, but have remained calm by signing good replacements. I expect them to do the same with Van Persie and to still finish in the Champions League places.
