On the back of a 4-0 victory at Barnsley, Reading once again play up north against a Peterborough side who are struggling for consistency. Despite a good 3-1 triumph over Barnsley, they lost at the hands of Ipswich on the weekend.

Vital Quotes:

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson – ‘We should have probably beaten Reading earlier in the campaign as we played well on that day, but conceded three very sloppy goals in a quick spell. Reading are a very good side though and arrive in tremendous form. They have some excellent players, particularly in wide areas and it promises to be another entertaining game.’

Reading manager Brian McDermott – ‘They’ve got a good combination up front, Barnett and Taylor. Taylor is a good player, he works hard and can get a goal, now they’ve got Barnett too, a decent big and small combination. They play a little differently and it was a tough game when we played them at home. We got to 3-1, they scored late, it was a high-scoring game and we know what we’re coming up against, we have to be prepared.’

Peterborough Team News:

Captain Grant McCann and defender Gaby Zakuani need late fitness tests, after they picked up knocks against Ipswich on Saturday.

Player to watch: Tyrone Barnett

The Posh’s record signing has made a very good start to his career at London Road, scoring 3 goals in 5 games.

Reading Team News:

Midfielder Jem Karacan also faces a late fitness test after being substituted at Barnsley, picking up a knock in that game. Winger Jimmy Kebe returned to the line up against the Tykes after injury last week but could be rested for Saturday’s game against Blackpool.

Player to watch: Jem Karacan

The Turkish midfielder scored a brace last week and will be keen to add to his tally. He will also have a tough job to contain a Peterborough midfield that move the ball around well.

Reverse fixture:

Reading 3 – 2 Peterborough

Match Prediction:

Peterborough are struggling for some sort of consistency and considering Reading’s away form, I fancy a narrow 1-0 win.
