Reading defender Alex Pearce has called for consistency from the Reading team as they head into February’s run of games.

The Royals have been in good form in recent months but have suffered a few slight bumps along the way in January. In the last six games in all competitions, the Royals have won three and lost three, with two of those loses coming at home.

Pearce told the official RFC site: ‘It has been a little bit inconsistent but with the transfer window ending now hopefully everyone can get knuckle down, focus on what we’ve got and focus on the run in. That’s the main thing – to focus on the football. That’s what we did on Saturday, we took care of business.’

‘It was important to get that win and hopefully we’ll be looking to build on that this Saturday. We’ve got a strong squad so whoever comes into the team we know can do just as good a job, we’ve seen that in midfield with Ledge going out. The two new signings have given us a big lift too.’

The squad are now have consecutive games against teams in the relegation zone, Coventry and today’s opponents Doncaster. Brian McDermott’s men have slipped to 8th place in the table but if results go their way, could find themselves in fourth spot once again.
