Alex Pearce is echoing the view of manager Steve Clarke, is that the league is the priority once again.

The recent cup exploits have shed some joy upon a fairly miserable season for the Royals, having reached an FA Cup semi-final for the first time in 88 years. However, that is still a month away, in a period where we have five league games until the Wembley date.

Speaking to the Reading Post, Pearce said: “Monday was a great night. One of my most memorable as a Reading player. But football is such a fast moving game. If you dwell on things, success or failure, it can slow you down and mess you up. So we have to put it to bed.’

‘We have to move on to Charlton this weekend. They had a good result on Tuesday night so they will be bang up for it. So we need to match them. We need to go there and play with no fear. We want to get a result. At the moment I`m not thinking about Arsenal just yet.’

Steve Clarke has been saying that a win this weekend really should put any relegation fears to bed, which in all honesty, it already should have. Irrelevant of whether we are not going up or down, we need to finish high as possible – points mean prizes, but mainly money!
