The ownership situation has quietened down recently, but the confirmation of the bid from an Omani businessman has relighted the speculation.

It appeared that the American consortium was the favourite to take over the club, but the confirmation of this bid throws it in the balance. The article also confirms that the offer that has been submitted is for the full 100% share of the club, the same as the American bid.

These quotes confirm the speculation surrounding the Omani bid. Speaking to the Times of Oman, an official confirmed that: ‘Yes an Omani businessman is interested but we do not want to reveal the identity of the individual who is interested as it may hamper the deal.’

The official from the Football Assocation of Oman added: ‘Once the deal is finalised then we will be able to give more details. It will be good for Oman football if this deal come through. It will certainly give a huge lift to the development of the game in this country.’

Interesting stuff, it seems that we now have two offers on the table, it’s now just a matter of which one is more attractive in the short and long term. It appears that any deal won’t be concluded for a little while yet, probably not even before the end of the month.
