Reading defender Sean Morrison has gained promotion with Huddersfield Town in the League One Play-off Final.

The 21-year old scored in the 8-7 penalty shoot-out and put in a solid performance during the actual 120 minutes to keep the game goalless. It came to the 11th penalty taker when Sheffield United keeper Steve Simonsen fired over the bar to promote Huddersfield to the Championship at the third play-off attempt.

Morrison’s future at the Madejski Stadium is still unknown, with the former Swindon defender admitting he is unsure where his long-term future lies. Another loan move away would seem the most probable outcome for Morrison but a permanent move to the Galpharm Stadium would not be out of the question following the Terriers’ promotion.

Huddersfield have also announced that the future of prolific striker Jordan Rhodes will be sealed this week. Reading are one of the many sides reportedly interested in the Scottish international, with Morrison plus £4 million an offer which the Championship-bound side may be inclined to consider. Brian McDermott went to watch the forward in the play-off semi-final against MK Dons two weeks ago.
