Minutes silence to be held

Both Reading and Liverpool will observe a minute’s silence this Saturday, as a mark of respect for the Hillsborough victims.

The encounter at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday will be two days before the 24th anniversary of the disaster, so both parties felt it was appropriate to remember those who sadly died on the 15th April 1989.

Some Liverpool fans have also spoke about having a two minute applause in the sixth minute, to further commemorate those who lost their lives.

Chairman Sir John Madejski was also in favour of holding a minute’s silence in memory of Margaret Thatcher, but would not be appropriate for a variety of reasons. Either way, I’m sure the silence will be respected immaculately and I look forward to a good game.
