Mikele Leigertwood made his first home appearance in over a year on Monday, but only lasted over twenty minutes.

Luckily it wasn’t because of injury though, as the referee sent off the central midfielder for two bookings, after coming on as a substitute just past the hour mark. This now means he will miss the Wigan game this Friday, but will return to the squad for Middlesbrough game on Tuesday.

Speaking to the Reading Post, Ledge revealed his frustration by saying: ‘Obviously I was really disappointed. I was delighted to get back out on the pitch in front of the home fans. I felt good and I was buzzing to get out there again. But then I got the two yellows.’

‘It was really difficult for me. A few of their players got away with some tackles and that was my first one. So it was a bit frustrating from that point of view. So I`ve just got to work hard in training and try and get myself right for Middlesbrough on Tuesday.”

It was great to see Ledge back on the turf, albeit for a short time. He will be a crucial asset when he is back fully fit, especially considering our central midfield injury crisis. Hopefully he can get more minutes under his belt this week and be ready for Tuesday.
