Reading boss Brian McDermott has issued a warning to his players, saying if they don’t perform in their first few friendlies, there could be a costly backlash.

The Royals take part in their first friendly in Slovenia against NK Dravograd, with it being the first real friendly for the majority of our first team players.

NK Dravograd are a Slovenian team, that play in the 3rd division in Slovenia.

McDermott wasn’t happy with the 3-2 defeat at Eastleigh and certainly made his feelings known. He told the Reading Post: ‘I`m just concerned about us doing everything we have to do and making sure we get our stuff right.’

The Royals boss went onto add: ‘It`s important that we do the right things as the last thing we want is to not turn up and perform. We can`t afford that to happen.’

The teams have also been confirmed for the game, with McDermott opting to play two different teams in each half. This will be except goalkeeper Ben Hamer, who will play the whole game, with the other keepers being given a rest following international duties.

The team in the first half will be as follows: Hamer, Cummings, Pearce, Harte, Tabb, Kebe, Howard, Leigertwood, Robson-Kanu, Hunt, Manset

The team in the second half will be as follows: Hamer, Taylor, Morrison, Gunnarsson, Williams, Antonio, McAnuff, Karacan, Obita, Long, Church

Substitutes will be Adam Fedrici and Nicholas Bignall.
