Reading manager Brian McDermott has been quick to praise his backroom staff, following his LMA Championship Manager of the Year award.

The 51-year old picked up the award last month after leading his side to Championship glory, despite a play-off final defeat and a slow start to the campaign. McDermott has worked alongside his assistant manager Nigel Gibbs in his entire managerial tenure, along with Sal Bibbo and Karl Halabi.

Speaking to the official RFC website, McDermott was quick to praise his staff for his award by commenting: ‘I think It’s a statement of what everybody at the club has achieved, they gave me the trophy but for the staff and the players and the fans it’s a fantastic achievement.’

‘I was nominated for the other one
[LMA Manager of the Year award across all leagues] alongside the likes of Ferguson, Mancini, Brendan, Pards and Lambert so I was in really good company. Alan won the main trophy and it was fantastic for him. In terms of our award, I’m delighted for everybody.’
