McCarthy edging closer to return

Reading goalkeeper is edging towards a return to full training, after restarting light training.

The 23-year old has not played since the 1-1 draw against QPR back at the start of November, after suffering a shoulder injury in the closing moments of the game at Loftus Road. It was originally feared that McCarthy would be out for the season, but the former England under 21 keeper has made a good recovery from his injury.

Alex was also linked with a move to Chelsea during the week, but the reliability of that story remains to be seen. I highly doubt he will go straight back into the side when he returns, instead it wouldn’t surprise me if he was to go out on loan for the remainder of the season, leaving us with Feders, Taylor and Andersen.
