Reading have the completed the signing of former Manchester City goalkeeper Stuart Taylor, on a free transfer.

The 31-year old completes his move to the Madejski Stadium, after signing a one-year contract with the Premier League new boys. Taylor was originally on trial last month and played a part in the 7-0 victory at AFC Wimbledon in July, playing 30 minutes between the sticks.

Fellow goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen’s loan move to Portsmouth a few days ago has allowed the free transfer to take place, with Royals boss Brian McDermott keen to also ship out England U21 international Alex McCarthy on loan, in an attempt to give him first-team football.
