Injury update from boss

Nigel Adkins has given a quick injury update on the duo of Jimmy Kebe and Jason Roberts.

The 30-year old winger was sidelined over two months, with a groin injury suffered against Everton, which made him miss the rest of the campaign. Roberts, who recently turned 35, has had a hip operation, after suffering an injury against Southampton in December. It only appears that one will be ready for the start of the season though!

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Adkins said: ‘Jason is still a long way away from being fit, so he`s not going ready for the start of the season. Jimmy`s obviously had that groin injury from the end of last season and through the summer – so we`ve got to make sure we`re mindful that we get that right.’

We have probably seen the last of the best of Jimmy and Roberts, they have both gone past the average peak for their position and the injuries are now starting to crop up. I would rather have Jimmy for the start of the season, but it will be interesting to see what Roberts offers when he returns to action.
